Arthur D. Campbell, age 82, Janesville, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Agrace Hospice, Janesville. He was born in Dawson, ND, son of Harry and Alice Campbell. He came to Janesville in 1943 and was a graduate of Milton High School. He was a member of the National Guard in 1952 and served in the Air Force from 1954 – 1958 as a medic. Art was a Korean War Veteran. He married Mary Jane (Haney) Campbell on June 25, 1960 in Janesville. He and Mary Jane had one daughter, Lisa-Marie Bartlett.
He retired from General Motors after 36 ½ years (1963-2000) as a pipe fitter. He then worked at Fagan Truck and Trailer part time for 4 years.
Art was a member of the Masonic Lodge #55 since 1966; a member of the Tripoli Shrine –Milwaukee since 1966 and also acted as President of the WI Shrine Club in Janesville. He was a member of the American Legion #205 and was fortunate enough to be a part of “Vets Roll” in Washington, DC. in 2011. He volunteered for the Salvation Army from 1967 – 1974, ringing bells at Christmastime. He, along with his wife, daughter, and mother-in-law, Gladys Haney, made Thanksgiving dinners for Echo for 9 years in his retirement.
Art is survived by his daughter, Lisa Marie (Rick) Bartlett, of Janesville, WI; a brother, Roland Gregory, of Highland, CA; a godchild, Susan Kalson, of Camano Island, WA and other nieces and nephews; a stepsister, Pat Vogel, Edgerton, WI; half-sisters, Joyce and Beverly, of Janesville; Alice Neary of Glen Buinie, MD. half-brother, Richard Campbell of Janesville and many friends. He was predeased by his beloved wife, Mary Jane; his parents; his stepmother, Helen; 3 brothers, Harry, Harold, and Robert; and 1 sister, Margaret.
A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd. , Janesville. A Memorial Service will be conducted by the Masonic Lodge #55 at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017. Military rites by American Legion Post # 205 will follow at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made in Arthur’s name to Agrace Hospice, 2901 N. Wright Rd., Janesville, WI 53546 or Friends of Noah-WI, an all-breed animal rescue organization, P.O. Box 308, Janesville, WI 53547.
